Life on Lanyu comes with many variables, especially when it comes to opening hours. Don’t rely too much on Google Maps! It’s better to check the store’s Instagram before heading over. Of course, if you enjoy the journey even if you end up missing a place, that’s part of the adventure.Here’s a food route I love that will take you from breakfast to dinner, with just the right balance of satisfaction and relaxation:
☀️ Breakfast/Brunch: Dongqing 33 東清33
Located near Dongqing Bay, this spot has open-air pavilion seating with a stunning sea view. Order a cup of black tea, a fried chicken burger, or a danbing ,and let yourself slowly wake up with the sun.
🍴 Lunch: DOVANWA 在海邊
Dovanwa means literally "by the sea" in local language. This restaurant is blending local indgredients with foreign flavors. Vegetable Tacos and 辣肉飯 are my favourite.
🍉 Dessert #1: 狠舔雪花冰
Known for fresh fruit-flavored shaved ice, each bite feels like a burst of sunshine and fruit! If it's mango season, don’t miss out, though my favorite there is watermelon, ha.
🍵 Dessert #2: 島民冰狗店
This is a charming spot for afternoon tea with a Japanese-style ambiance. The ocean view is incredible, and the vibe is very artistic. Make sure to follow the store’s rules when entering.
🍔 Dinner: 野銀野營漢堡
These burgers are truly unique! With generous portions and juicy patties, paired with local wild vegetables and small surprises from the ocean, they’re absolutely worth trying.
🍷 Nightcap: 私宅停院
Hidden in a lane, this private bar offers a cozy and sophisticated vibe. The cocktails are excellent, and the atmosphere will make you want to stay all night. Just make sure you’re staying at Langdao, or you might end up drinking and driving, ooops.
When you’re in Lanyu, remember to take your time – eat slowly, walk leisurely, and enjoy the sights. The stores might not always open on time, but the views and the local vibe will always be there.
